We are currently seeking a skilled and experienced Indian Curry Chef to join our kitchen team. The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of authentic Indian curry preparation, excellent cooking skills, and the ability to maintain high food quality and hygiene standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and cook a wide variety of authentic Indian curries, gravies, dals, and regional speciality dishes.
- Develop and maintain consistency in taste, presentation, and portion sizes.
- Prepare curry bases, marinades, sauces, spice blends, and accompaniments using traditional methods.
- Ensure all food is prepared in accordance with restaurant recipes and quality standards.
- Monitor food quality throughout preparation and service.
- Manage stock levels for spices, vegetables, herbs, and other ingredients.
- Assist in ordering kitchen supplies and maintaining inventory.
- Minimise food wastage while maintaining portion control.
- Ensure compliance with all food safety, hygiene, and health regulations.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen and curry section.
- Work efficiently during busy service periods while maintaining high standards.
- Assist in menu development and introducing new curry recipes where appropriate.
- Collaborate with the Head Chef and kitchen team to ensure smooth daily operations.
- Train and support junior kitchen staff when required.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Minimum 2 years of experience as an Indian Curry Chef or similar role in a professional restaurant.
- Strong knowledge of authentic North Indian, South Indian, and regional curry preparation.
- Experience in preparing vegetarian and vegan Indian dishes is highly desirable.
- Excellent understanding of Indian spices, herbs, cooking techniques, and flavour profiles.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication skills.
- Flexible to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
Pay: £28,000.00-£36,000.00 per year
