Bar Person / Front of House Assistant
Reports To
Club Manager / Bar Manager
Purpose of the Role
To provide a welcoming, friendly and professional service to members, guests and visitors, ensuring high standards of customer care are maintained at all times. The successful candidate will assist with bar service, food service, front of house duties and the smooth day-to-day operation of the clubhouse.
Key ResponsibilitiesCustomer Service
- Deliver exceptional customer service to all members, guests and visitors.
- Create a welcoming and friendly atmosphere within the clubhouse.
- Respond to customer enquiries professionally and courteously.
- Handle customer concerns calmly and refer issues to management where appropriate.
Bar Duties
- Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages responsibly.
- Operate the bar efficiently during busy and quiet periods.
- Maintain excellent knowledge of drinks, promotions and club events.
- Ensure compliance with licensing laws and Challenge 25 procedures.
- Monitor stock levels and report shortages.
Front of House
- Welcome members and visitors on arrival.
- Take food and drink orders accurately.
- Serve food and beverages promptly and professionally.
- Clear and reset tables to maintain a clean and welcoming environment.
- Assist with functions, competitions, presentations and special events.
Cash Handling
- Operate the till and card payment systems accurately.
- Handle cash and process transactions responsibly.
- Balance tills in accordance with club procedures where required.
Housekeeping
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness throughout the bar, lounge, dining areas and associated workspaces.
- Clean bar equipment, glassware and service areas.
- Ensure health, safety and hygiene standards are maintained at all times.
- Follow all food hygiene and cleaning procedures.
Teamwork
- Work cooperatively with colleagues across all departments.
- Support fellow team members during busy periods.
- Assist in training new employees where required.
- Be flexible in undertaking additional duties appropriate to the role.
General Responsibilities
- Represent the club professionally at all times.
- Follow all club policies and procedures.
- Maintain confidentiality where appropriate.
- Attend training as required.
- Comply with Health & Safety legislation.
- Promote a positive image of the club.
Person SpecificationEssential
- Previous customer service experience.
- Friendly, approachable and professional manner.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Reliable and punctual.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends and bank holidays.
- Ability to work under pressure during busy periods.
- Team player with a positive attitude.
- Basic numeracy and cash handling skills.
Desirable
- Previous bar or hospitality experience.
- Food Hygiene Certificate.
- First Aid qualification.
- Knowledge of golf club operations or experience working in a members' club.
Working Hours
Hours will vary according to the needs of the business and will include evenings, weekends and bank holidays. Overtime may be available during busy periods and club events.
Salary
Competitive, dependent upon experience.
