An ambitious and supportive secondary school is seeking a Head of Social Science to join their team from April 2026, on a 1 year fixed-term contract.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced teacher, ideally with a History specialism, who is ready to step into leadership, shape curriculum direction, and nurture a collaborative department culture.
The Role
- Leadership of a broad and evolving Social Science department
- Develop schemes of work and resources in line with curriculum requirements
- Devise assessments which accurately monitor students’ knowledge, skills and progress
- Preference for a History specialist, reflecting the outgoing postholder’s background, though a strong mixed Social Science profile will also be considered
- Have a clear understanding of the needs of all students, including those with special educational needs
- Contribute to the design and provision of an engaging curriculum within the faculty subjects
- Attend all whole school training and INSET
