The Company
Wheelfreedom is a Chessington-based provider of mobility equipment, specialising in complex rehabilitation technology including specialist wheelchairs and seating solutions, alongside mobility scooters, rise and recline chairs, and other daily living equipment.
We have transformed expectations within the industry by combining expert technical knowledge, clinical understanding, a modern spacious showroom, and a fully equipped workshop at our Chessington headquarters. Most importantly, we are passionate about delivering an exceptional customer experience in an industry that has not always been known for it.
Our work genuinely changes lives. We help people regain independence, confidence, and freedom, often during challenging periods in their lives. Because of this, we build long-term relationships with our customers and their families, many of whom remain with us for decades.
We are ambitious about becoming the leading provider of complex clinical and technological mobility solutions that others in the industry cannot offer, and our engineering capability is central to that vision.
The Role
We are looking for a Field Service Engineer who enjoys solving problems, helping people, and delivering outstanding service.
This is far more than a traditional engineering role. Every day brings different challenges, environments, and customers, requiring someone who is technically minded but also personable, adaptable, and genuinely motivated by helping others.
The role involves the delivery, installation, servicing, maintenance, adjustment, and repair of a wide range of mobility equipment, both at customers’ homes across London and the South East and within our fully equipped workshop in Chessington.
You will regularly work with specialist and complex rehabilitation equipment including powered wheelchairs, standing wheelchairs, and bespoke seating systems. The role also includes fault diagnosis, repairs, configuration, and reprogramming of advanced equipment, alongside ensuring every product is fitted safely and tailored to the customer’s individual needs.
A key part of the role is building trust and rapport with customers. Many of our customers rely heavily on their equipment in day-to-day life, so your ability to communicate clearly, reassure people, and provide a calm, professional service is just as important as your technical ability.
No two days are the same. One moment you may be resolving a technical fault, the next you could be adapting equipment to improve a customer’s comfort or independence. We are looking for someone who enjoys thinking on their feet, finding practical solutions, and taking pride in making a real difference.
Full industry-recognised training is provided, both in-house and externally, offering excellent progression opportunities within a highly specialised and rewarding field.
This is a permanent, full-time role working five days per week, including alternate Saturdays.
The Person
Experience within the mobility industry is preferred but not essential, as full training will be provided. What matters most is your attitude, approach, and willingness to learn.
You will ideally have:
- A hands-on, practical mindset
- An engineering qualification or experience within technical repair, servicing, maintenance, or installation work
- Strong problem-solving ability and a methodical approach to fault finding
- A genuine desire to help people and deliver exceptional customer service
- Confidence communicating with customers from all walks of life
- The ability to quickly build rapport, put people at ease, and represent the company professionally
- A positive, adaptable attitude and willingness to learn new skills
This role would particularly suit someone who enjoys combining technical problem solving with customer interaction and takes pride in delivering work to a high standard.
A company vehicle is provided, which can also be used for commuting, and a full clean driving licence is essential.
Pay: £30,000.00-£36,000.00 per year
Work Location: On the road
