Overview
At a small restauran on leith Walk, very calm on certain days, we are seeking a dynamic and experienced Head Chef/Kitchen Manager to lead our culinary team. This role involves overseeing daily kitchen operations, cooking, ensuring exceptional food quality, maintaining high standards of food safety, and managing staff effectively.
Simple kitchen, mostly grill.

Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise kitchen staff, including chefs, and kitchen assistants, ensuring smooth daily operations. (Only 3 people work in the kitchen)
- Oversee food production processes, maintaining consistency and quality across all dishes served
- Manage food preparation and cooking activities, ensuring adherence to recipes and presentation standards
- Develop and update menus in collaboration with management, incorporating seasonal ingredients and customer preferences
- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene within the kitchen
- Monitor inventory levels, order supplies, and manage stock control to minimise waste and optimise costs
- Train new staff members and provide ongoing professional development for existing team members
- Collaborate with front-of-house teams to ensure seamless service delivery and customer satisfaction
- Enforce health and safety policies across the kitchen environment
Skills
- Proven supervising experience within a busy culinary or hospitality setting
- Extensive food production knowledge with expertise in food preparation, cooking techniques, and presentation skills
- Strong team management abilities with leadership qualities that motivate staff towards shared goals
- In-depth understanding of food safety standards and regulations
- Previous experience working in a restaurant or similar hospitality environment is highly desirable
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently under pressure
- Good communication skills to effectively liaise with team members and management
- Passion for culinary arts coupled with a commitment to delivering exceptional customer service
Pay: £14.00-£14.30 per hour
