We’re looking for a proactive and reliable Deputy Shop Manager to help run our busy charity shops. This is a hands on role where no two days are the same, from merchandising and stock sorting to supporting volunteers and delivering great customer service.
You’ll work closely with the Shop Manager to keep everything running smoothly and step up to lead the shop when they’re away. It’s a great opportunity for someone who enjoys retail, working with people and being part of a supportive team.
What you’ll be doing
-
Supporting the day to day running of the shop, ensuring it’s well organised, welcoming and ready for customers
-
Helping to drive sales by creating attractive displays and maintaining high shop floor standards
-
Assisting with stock management: sorting, pricing and displaying donated goods
-
Leading the shop in the absence of the Shop Manager
-
Supporting the recruitment, training and motivation of volunteers
-
Delivering excellent customer service and creating a positive shopping experience
-
Handling cash, banking and shop administration accurately
-
Making sure health and safety and security procedures are followed at all times
-
Promoting the shop and the wider work of the organisation in the local community
What we’re looking for
We’re looking for someone who is organised, friendly and ready to get stuck in. You’ll also bring:
-
Experience in a retail or customer-facing role
-
Confidence working with a wide range of people, including volunteers
-
Strong communication skills and a positive, approachable manner
-
Good organisational skills and attention to detail
-
The ability to use your own initiative and solve problems
-
A team-focused attitude with a willingness to support others
Experience of supervising staff or volunteers would be helpful, but it’s not essential.
You’ll thrive in this role if you are:
-
A natural people person who enjoys helping customers and supporting colleagues
-
Practical and hands-on, happy to take on a variety of tasks
-
Motivated to achieve targets and keep things running smoothly
-
Calm under pressure and able to juggle priorities
-
Flexible, including occasional weekend or additional hours when needed
