Computer Science Teacher

Wayman Education is seeking an innovative and forward-thinking Computer Science Teacher to join a highly progressive technology department at a fantastic secondary school in Epping. This full-time, permanent position is scheduled to start in September 2026 and is open to both experienced teachers looking for a new environment and ambitious Early Career Teachers (ECTs).

Key Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality, engaging computer science lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (with potential opportunities to teach Key Stage 5 / A-Level computational theory and programming algorithms).
- Equip students with strong practical programming skills (such as Python) alongside a robust understanding of computer systems, networks, cyber security, and data structures.
- Assess, track, and report on the academic progress and practical coding attainment of pupils in line with GCSE exam board specifications and internal assessment guidelines.
- Implement effective adaptive teaching strategies to challenge high-achieving computational thinkers while providing scaffolded support for students with diverse learning needs or SEND.
- Contribute to the wider life of the faculty, supporting extra-curricular coding clubs, robotics challenges, or STEM initiatives to enrich student engagement.
Requirements
- Qualifications: Must hold QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or QTLS, alongside a degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
- Experience: A proven track record of teaching Computer Science within a UK secondary school setting (including successful ITT/PGCE placements).
- Skills: Strong technical knowledge of programming languages and theory, confident classroom management techniques, and a passion for making technology accessible and exciting for all learners.
- A strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
