We are seeking a talented and passionate part time Chef in a job share role in a private nursery. As a Chef, you will play a pivotal role in creating exceptional dining experiences for children aged 3 months to 5 years, catering to a variety of dietary requirements. You will be responsible for overseeing food production, ensuring high standards of food safety and quality. Your culinary expertise will be essential in maintaining our reputation for creating an environment in which children are encouraged and motivated to try new foods and learn about healthy eating.
The role would be Thursdays and Fridays 51 weeks a year, flexible hours between 10 – 14 hours a week.
Duties
- Prepare and cook a variety of dishes according to the settings menu and standards.
- Maintain records in relation to food safety and hygiene to ensure efficient operations.
- Maintain high standards of food safety and hygiene throughout all food production processes.
- Collaborate with the Chef to develop new menu items and seasonal offerings.
- Stepping up when the Chef is on annual leave to monitor inventory levels and ordering supplies as necessary to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
- Ensure that all dishes are presented beautifully and meet the settings quality standards.
- Maintaining high levels of cleanliness in line with the standards set by EHO (Environmental health officer)
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Chef or in a similar culinary role within an early years/school setting would be preferred.
- Strong knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in food production. Level 2 in food hygiene and safety is required.
- Proficient in various cooking techniques and cuisines, with a passion for culinary arts.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
- Strong organisational skills with the capability to multitask effectively in a busy kitchen environment.
- Successful candidates must pass an enhanced DBS (criminal records) check.
