About the role
We're looking for a reliable, flexible Relief Cleaner to join our team, providing cover during periods of annual leave and sickness. Normally the cleaning takes place before we open the doors to the public, between 7am -9am but we are opened to having this done in the evenings after 8pm when support groups have finished.
This is much more than a cleaning role. The environment people walk into every morning says a lot about who we are. A clean, safe and welcoming building helps people feel respected, valued and able to access support with dignity.
You'll be responsible for cleaning offices, meeting rooms, toilets, kitchens and communal areas across our two-storey heritage building in Wellington, Telford. You'll work independently, following agreed cleaning schedules and infection prevention procedures to maintain high standards throughout the building.
This role occasionally involves cleaning areas that others may find unpleasant. You'll need to be comfortable dealing with whatever you encounter in a calm, professional and non-judgemental way, always following safe working practices and infection control procedures.
About us
At TACT, you'll be part of a team offering open-door support for people in addiction recovery and those living with mental health difficulties. Through one-to-one support, groups, volunteering and training, we help people build confidence, connection and hope. We're experts by experience — we understand when others don't. Our work is challenging, emotional, rewarding and occasionally chaotic. We value kindness, authenticity, humour and genuine human connection. Every single member of our team plays an important part in creating an environment where people feel welcome, safe and respected.
About you
We're looking for someone who:
- Takes genuine pride in creating clean, safe and welcoming spaces.
- Is reliable, trustworthy and able to work independently.
- Has excellent attention to detail.
- Is non-judgemental and treats everyone with dignity and respect.
- Is practical, resilient and happy to get stuck in, even when the job isn't glamorous.
- Can remain calm and professional in situations that may involve unpleasant cleaning tasks.
- Understands the importance of maintaining confidentiality.
- Is able to follow cleaning procedures, health and safety requirements, and infection prevention and control guidance.
- Wants to make a real difference to the people who use our services.
Previous professional cleaning experience is desirable but not essential. We are happy to train someone with the right attitude and work ethic. We actively welcome applications from people with lived experience of recovery from addiction or mental health difficulties. We believe lived experience brings valuable insight, empathy and hope, but it is never a requirement for joining our team.
