Overview
We are seeking enthusiastic and dedicated community kitchen volunteers to support our organisation’s mission of providing nutritious meals to those in need. This paid position offers an opportunity to contribute positively to the community while gaining valuable experience in food service and kitchen operations. Volunteers will work alongside our team to prepare, serve, and ensure the smooth running of meal services in a welcoming environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist with meal preparation, including chopping, cooking, and plating food items in accordance with food safety standards
- Support catering activities for community events or programmes as required
- Help maintain cleanliness and organisation within the kitchen area, ensuring hygiene protocols are adhered to at all times
- Serve meals to clients with professionalism and courtesy, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere
- Assist with food safety procedures, including storage, handling, and disposal of ingredients and waste
- Support the team during busy periods by helping with additional tasks such as setting tables or packing takeaway meals
- Collaborate effectively with other volunteers and staff to ensure efficient service delivery
Skills
- Previous experience in catering, cooking, or restaurant environments is desirable but not essential; a passion for food and community service is key
- Knowledge of meal preparation and food safety standards
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen setting while maintaining attention to detail
- Good organisational skills and the ability to follow instructions accurately
- Excellent communication skills and a friendly attitude when serving clients
- Experience with food preparation, culinary techniques, or general kitchen experience is advantageous
- A commitment to maintaining high standards of hygiene and safety in all tasks undertaken

Pay: £24,420.00-£44,608.34 per year
Work Location: In person
