Mobile Refrigeration Engineer - Leicestershire
Retail Stores, Cold Rooms and Warehouse Environments
Up to £45,000 basic plus premium overtime, Standby pay, van and benefits
On call standby on average one week in 6 (£250 per week if not called out)

If you are a commercial refrigeration engineer who enjoys independence, problem-solving and taking ownership of a defined patch, this is a strong long-term in-house role with a major UK retailer. You will look after a group of stores in your region, supported by a wider engineering team that has been established for decades.
This role suits engineers who want stability, proper investment in training and the freedom to manage their own workload without being micromanaged.
What You Will Be Doing
- Service, maintain and repair commercial refrigeration equipment, including cold rooms, freezers, display cases, packs and condensers
- Diagnose faults using your engineering skills and remote monitoring systems
- Complete PPMs, audits, minor installs and reactive callouts
- Keep accurate F Gas and compliance records
- Work closely with store teams to minimise downtime and keep operations running smoothly
- Manage van stock and ensure outstanding calls are resolved quickly
You will typically be responsible for around 15 to 22 stores directly, with wider support across a larger regional network.
What You Need
Essential
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning or equivalent
- F Gas Category 1
- Strong commercial refrigeration experience, including cold rooms, integrals, packs and retail cabinets
- Good electrical and mechanical diagnostic skills
- Ability to work independently and communicate well with store teams
- A service led mentality
- Full UK driving licence
Desirable
- Experience in supermarket refrigeration, transport refrigeration, chillers or HVAC
- Controls experience such as RDM, Carel, Danfoss or Eliwell
- Ex Forces engineering backgrounds are wlecome
Salary and Package
- Up to £45,000 basic
- 45 hour working week
- Standby rota of one week on and five weeks off (varies slightly region to region)
- Standby payments totalling £250 for each standby week
- Overtime at time and a half over 45 hours and on Saturdays
- Double time on Sundays
