COMPONENT ENGINEER / PURCHASING ENGINEER
Location: Horsham, West Sussex (Office-Based / Hybrid)
Salary: £35,000 – £40,000 + Benefits

The Opportunity
A well-established specialist distributor of electronic components, connectors and cable solutions is looking for a technically minded Component Engineer / Purchasing Engineer to join their team in Horsham, West Sussex.
This is a varied, hands-on role at the intersection of technical knowledge and commercial operations — perfect for someone who understands electronic or electromechanical components and wants to work in a dynamic, product-focused environment. You'll be responsible for maintaining part number records, managing supplier relationships and providing technical support to the sales and commercial teams.
What You'll Be Doing
- Managing and maintaining the company's component database, including part numbers, supplier data and product specifications
- Liaising with suppliers and franchise partners to manage lead times, availability and pricing
- Supporting the internal sales and product management teams with technical queries and product selection
- Identifying alternative or equivalent components where required
- Assisting with sourcing activity, new product introduction and obsolescence management
- Ensuring system data accuracy and supporting continuous improvement of internal processes
What We're Looking For
- A working knowledge of electronic or electromechanical components — connectors, cable, wire, passive components or similar
- Experience in a purchasing, engineering support, technical sales support or component engineering role
- Strong attention to detail with good data management and system skills
- Confident communicator, comfortable liaising with both suppliers and internal teams
- Experience with ERP or product database systems would be advantageous
- A proactive, problem-solving mindset with a willingness to learn
