Project Accountant
Burton-on-Trent
£55,000 - £60,000 depending on experience
Working closely with the Head of FP&A, Project Managers, and senior stakeholders, this role is responsible for project-related financial activities, including accurate month-end closing, compliance with UK GAAP, and supporting strategic decision-making.
The Project Accountant is accountable for managing project finances, ensuring robust reporting and analysis, challenging performance, improving forecasting, and partnering with teams to deliver financial insight.
Key responsibilities:
- Month-End Closing for projects
- Run initial revenue recognition process in SAP and review anomalies
- POC accounting treatments under UK GAAP
- Post intercompany accruals and adjustments
- Project Financial Management: monitoring project profitability and investigate unusual trends
- Forecasting & analysis, projecting cashflow and providing variance
- Close AP, AR, materials ledger, and timesheets in SAP
- Business Partnering: working closely with varied stake holders, monitoring performance, cost-to-complete, and forecasting accuracy
Qualifications and Experience:
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with at least 5 years of post-qualification experience
- 3+ years of experience in project accounting, preferably within manufacturing or engineering sectors
- Strong knowledge of UK GAAP
- SAP project reporting desirable; strong Excel skills essential
- Ability to interpret complex data and provide actionable insights
- Strong business partnering and communication skills
