Job Title: Assistant Store Manager – Convenience Store
We are looking for a reliable and hands-on Assistant Store Manager to help run our busy convenience store day to day. The right person will be dependable, confident with customers, and comfortable taking responsibility when the owner/manager is not available.
This role is ideal for someone with retail, convenience store, petrol station, supermarket, or cash-handling experience who is ready to take on more responsibility.
Responsibilities include:
- Opening and closing the store
- Serving customers and providing friendly service
- Handling cash, card payments, tills, and end-of-day cashing up
- Stocking shelves and keeping the store clean and well presented
- Checking deliveries and managing stock rotation
- Helping with ordering and stock control
- Supervising staff and helping with shift handovers
- Making sure store standards, safety, and security procedures are followed
- Supporting the owner/manager with daily store operations
- Dealing with customer questions or issues professionally
Requirements:
- Previous retail or convenience store experience preferred
- Cash-handling experience
- Reliable, punctual, and trustworthy
- Able to work independently and use common sense
- Good customer service skills
- Comfortable working early mornings, evenings, weekends, or flexible shifts
- Able to stand for long periods and lift stock when needed
- Previous supervisor or key-holder experience is a bonus
