Home Tutor (Male) – KS2 SEN Pupil – Essex (CO9) – Up to £30/hour
Study Mind is seeking an experienced, male SEN tutor for a 1:1 home tuition placement with a Year 5 pupil in Essex (postcode CO9).
Role overview:
- Subjects: English and Maths, both highly differentiated to suit the pupil's needs
- All written work completed via laptop (pupil does not write by hand)
- Delivery: 1:1, in the family home, with a parent/carer present throughout
- Sessions: Mornings, 3 days per week (Monday, Wednesday, Friday), starting at 1 hour per session and increasing gradually as the pupil's tolerance builds
- Pay: Up to £30 per hour
About the pupil: This pupil has a diagnosis of Autism (ASD) and ADHD, alongside high anxiety, sensory processing needs, and a demand-avoidant profile. He is bright, articulate, and has particular strengths in maths and a strong interest in computers/technology, which can be used to support engagement.
We're looking for a tutor who:
- Is male (genuine occupational requirement for this placement)
- Has solid experience supporting children with ASD, ADHD, anxiety and demand avoidance
- Understands low-demand, low-arousal approaches and attachment-aware/trauma-informed practice
- Is patient, consistent, and comfortable using visual supports, sensory breaks, and flexible session structures
- Can build trust gradually and work sensitively with a child who has had difficult experiences with school
