Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and organised Activity Coordinator to join our team in providing engaging and meaningful activities for residents in a care home setting. The ideal candidate will have experience working with senior individuals, particularly those requiring assisted living, dementia care, or Alzheimer's care. This role offers an opportunity to enhance residents' quality of life through tailored programmes that promote social interaction, mental stimulation, and physical activity. Responsibilities
- Plan, organise, and facilitate a variety of recreational activities tailored to residents’ interests and needs, including arts and crafts, music sessions, games, and outings
- Assess residents’ individual preferences and abilities to develop personalised activity plans
- Support residents with dementia or Alzheimer's in participating in activities safely and comfortably
- Foster a positive atmosphere that encourages socialisation and engagement among residents
- Collaborate with care staff to ensure activities complement individual care plans and daily routines
- Monitor residents’ responses to activities and adjust programmes accordingly to maximise participation and enjoyment
- Maintain accurate records of activities conducted and residents’ participation levels
- Promote a cheerful environment that enhances residents’ overall wellbeing
Skills
- Prior experience working in assisted living, nursing homes, or care homes specialising in senior care is highly desirable
- Knowledge of dementia care and Alzheimer’s care principles to support residents effectively
- Strong communication skills to interact empathetically with residents, families, and team members
- Ability to organise engaging activities that cater to diverse needs and abilities
- Compassionate attitude with a genuine interest in improving the lives of older adults
- Excellent organisational skills to manage multiple programmes simultaneously
- Flexibility to adapt activities based on residents’ changing needs and preferences

Hours of work
10am - 3pm - 5 days a week including alternate weekends
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: £12.97 per hour
