Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable and motivated Drivers Mate to join our team. The successful candidate will assist with the delivery process, ensuring goods are transported safely and efficiently. This role involves supporting the driver during deliveries, handling goods, and maintaining excellent communication with clients and team members. A background in commercial driving, warehouse operations, or delivery experience is highly desirable. The ideal applicant will demonstrate mechanical knowledge and strong organisational skills to contribute to smooth daily operations.
Responsibilities
- Assist the driver with loading and unloading goods at various locations, including flatbed deliveries.
- 6 days a week must be able to get up early due to early starts.
- Support in securing cargo to ensure safe transportation during transit.
- Help navigate routes efficiently, adhering to delivery schedules and safety regulations.
- Communicate effectively with clients regarding delivery times and any potential issues.
- Conduct basic vehicle checks and report any mechanical concerns promptly.
- Maintain accurate documentation of deliveries and pickups.
- Ensure compliance with all health and safety standards throughout the delivery process.
Experience
- Previous experience in commercial driving or as a delivery driver is preferred.
- Warehouse experience or familiarity with logistics operations is advantageous.
- Knowledge of flatbed lorry handling and securing loads is beneficial.
- Strong communication skills to liaise effectively with team members and clients.
- Mechanical knowledge relevant to vehicle maintenance and troubleshooting.
