Purpose of post
The purpose of this role is to support all processes within the Pay and Pensions Branch. Ensuring that payment of salaries are processed accurately and on time. A key role within the Pay and Pensions team is to ensure accurate, prompt, and efficient payment of remuneration to all staff attached to its five payrolls. Provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers concerning processes, which are part of the Corporate Shared Service Centre's responsibilities following current Policies and Procedures.

Key tasks
Conduct data entry for payroll-specific transactions, such as overtime claims, allowances, advance payments, one-off temporary payments, etc., within expected timeframes.
Process manual requests for general payroll enquiries.
Accurately and timely process all elements related to the monthly payroll, ensuring correct and timely calculation and payment of wages.
Analyse and check various payroll reports.
Process deductions for employee benefits, pensions and salary sacrifice schemes.
Provide advice on HR-related policies to customers as and when required.
Monitor sickness absence details, including calculating reduced pay rates for staff on long-term sickness absence and issuing letters to staff concerned.
Complete all actions relating to staff, ensuring all systems are updated accurately, completely, and within agreed timescales.
Demonstrate a flexible attitude.
Delivery of a high-quality service and prompt responses to all customers (internal and external).

A reserve list may be held for this opportunity. Any candidate who is successful in being offered a reserve status, will remain on the reserve list for 12 months.
A test on Technical 1: payroll and pension related numeracy assessment will be required at stage 2. More information will be provided in the invitations to that stage.
Eligibility - Candidates must hold a GCSE in Mathematics at Grade C/Grade 4 or above. Evidence of this must be provided before during the recruitment process.
