Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Waste Collector to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for collecting and disposing of waste efficiently and safely across designated areas. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to environmental sustainability and maintain cleanliness standards within the community or organisation. A good understanding of mechanical processes and the ability to perform heavy lifting are desirable qualities for this position.
Responsibilities
- Collect waste from residential, commercial, or industrial sites using specialised vehicles and equipment
- Ensure waste is sorted correctly according to local regulations and organisational policies
- Operate waste collection vehicles safely, adhering to all health and safety guidelines
- Perform routine maintenance checks on collection vehicles and equipment
- Load waste securely onto lorries, ensuring stability during transit
- Report any mechanical issues or safety hazards encountered during shifts
- Assist with the organisation of waste collection schedules and routes as required
- Maintain cleanliness of work areas and ensure proper disposal of recyclable materials
Experience
- Previous experience in waste collection or a similar role is advantageous but not essential; training will be provided
- Mechanical knowledge is beneficial for understanding vehicle operation and troubleshooting minor issues
- Physical fitness is important, with the ability to perform heavy lifting regularly throughout shifts
- Good organisational skills and attention to safety protocols are essential for effective performance in this role
