The Backroom (UK) Ltd are looking for a Level 2 AAT Accounts Apprentice to join our wonderful team!
The Backroom (UK) Ltd provides Bookkeeping and Accountancy services to a variety of clients throughout the UK. Whilst working with businesses ranging from sole traders to large international businesses, we offer a uniquely varied insight from our base in sunny Penzance!
Our team has a wealth of knowledge which we are ready to share with someone keen to grow in a career in Accounts and Bookkeeping.
The Role: Accounts Apprentice
We are looking for someone to be actively involved in day-to-day bookkeeping and accounts management tasks. We will offer hands-on experience working with clients and performing a range of tasks including assisting with;
· Data entry and processing tasks.
· Day-to-day bookkeeping.
· Supporting invoicing functions.
· Reconciliation of accounts and resolution of discrepancies.
· Assisting with the preparation of accurate management accounts and reports.
· Payroll processing.
This is a learning-based role consisting of:
· 4 days per week in our Penzance office.
· 1 day per week at Truro College completing your Level 2 AAT Apprenticeship.
Key Responsibilities: Accounts Apprentice
It will be essential that you demonstrate a keen desire to learn and approach new tasks with enthusiasm.
We also require an Apprentice who will engage fully with the Apprenticeship Course and attend all required sessions and assessments.
Qualifications and Requirements: Accounts Apprentice
· GCSE Maths & English (Level 4).
· Computer Literacy.
· Ability to commute to both Penzance and Truro College.
In addition, we are seeking someone who can demonstrate;
· A ‘can-do’ attitude.
· An ability to meet deadlines and prioritise tasks.
· Excellent organisational skills.
· Strong interpersonal skills.
· Problem-solving ability.
This role is best suited to candidates living within a reasonable commuting distance of Penzance (typically within 10 miles), with the ability to travel to Truro College weekly.
Employment: Accounts Apprentice
· Pay rate: will meet minimum apprentice rate for first years
· Start Date: August/September 2026
· Apprenticeship progression throughout AAT Level 3 and 4
