Your Role as a Cover Supervisor
As a Cover Supervisor, you step in when a teacher is absent. Your core focus is to maintain a safe, ordered, and productive learning environment while pupils complete pre-set assignments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strong Classroom Management: Confidently manage the behaviour of secondary school students (ages 11-16).
- Supervision: Oversee pupils completing work left by the absent teacher.
- Instruction: Follow and implement instructions accurately, distributing and collecting work.
- Reporting: Report back to staff on student progress and any incidents that occurred.
Essential Requirements (Please Read Carefully)
- We are specifically seeking candidates who are ready to step into this role with demonstrable confidence and professionalism. To be successful, you must meet one of the following criteria:
- Experience: Have at least two years of recent, strong experience as a Teaching Assistant (TA) within a school environment.
- Education: Hold a relevant Diploma-level education or higher (e.g., in Education, Child Development, or a related field).
In addition, you must demonstrate:
- Confidence in Behaviour Management: Proven ability to handle challenging behaviours effectively.
- Reliability: Able to adapt quickly to different school environments and lesson plans.
- Professionalism: A proactive approach to ensuring all instructions are followed accurately.
