Senior Residential Care Worker – Children’s Residential Care
£15.75 per hour | Full-Time | 160 Hours per Month + Sleep-Ins
£1.5k joining bonus
An experienced Senior Residential Care Worker is required for a 3-bed Children’s Residential Home in Melksham, providing a safe, structured, and nurturing environment where children achieve support positive outcomes.
The Role
This position involves leading shifts and delivering high-quality, person-centred care to children with a range of needs.
- Observe, monitor, and record behaviours and interactions
- Build positive, professional relationships with children
- Ensure a safe and structured environment
- Lead shifts and supervise residential staff
- Work in partnership with external professionals
- Maintain compliance with safeguarding and Ofsted standards
Key Responsibilities
- Produce detailed, evidence-based reports
- Support children with daily routines and emotional wellbeing
- Monitor and document development and behaviours
- Follow all policies, procedures, and placement plans
- Maintain a consistent, child-focused approach
Requirements
- NVQ Level 3 Diploma in Children’s Residential Care (or equivalent)
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in residential childcare
- Full UK driving licence
- Strong communication, observation, and report-writing skills
- Ability to manage challenging situations calmly
Desirable:
- Knowledge of trauma-informed care and complex needs
- Experience supporting challenging behaviours and mental health
Pay and Benefits

- Contracted 160 hours per month
