Glasgow Kelvin College is entering an exciting phase of transformation through Workforce 2030, shaping a modern, agile and high‑performing College aligned to our Strategy 2030 ambitions. As part of this, we are making a significant investment in academic leadership to enhance curriculum quality, strengthen performance, and deliver improved outcomes for our learners.
We are now seeking to appoint a Curriculum Manager – ESOL to play a pivotal role in this refreshed structure. This role will provide enhanced leadership capacity, enabling a stronger focus on staff leadership, curriculum development, quality enhancement and learner success. With increased teaching remission, the Curriculum Manager will have dedicated time to focus on leadership priorities, support their teams effectively, and drive continuous improvement in learner outcomes.
With greater capacity for leadership and clearer alignment to national expectations, the Curriculum Manager will be empowered to innovate, foster collaboration, and respond confidently to the evolving needs of students, employers and the wider sector.
Essential Requirement:
Applicants must hold a recognised teaching qualification and be registered with the General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTCS). These are essential requirements for appointment to this post and candidates should clearly demonstrate this within their application.
The Curriculum Manager is responsible for the leadership, management and continuous improvement of curriculum performance and delivery within a designated curriculum area. The role provides academic and operational leadership, ensuring curriculum planning, delivery, resourcing and quality assurance are aligned to learner needs, employer demand, awarding body requirements and College strategic objectives.
With a strong emphasis on people leadership, the successful candidate will lead and develop curriculum teams, creating a positive, high-performing and inclusive culture while driving performance, quality enhancement and continuous improvement. As a member of the wider Faculty and College management team, the post holder will contribute to the achievement of Faculty and College priorities.

In summary as a Curriculum Manager, you will:
- Lead and develop curriculum teams to deliver high-quality learning, teaching and assessment that supports excellent learner outcomes.
- Drive curriculum performance, quality assurance and continuous improvement through effective planning, resource management and data-informed decision-making.
- Lead the recruitment, induction, development and performance management of staff, supporting colleague wellbeing, engagement and professional growth.
- Work collaboratively with employers, awarding bodies and external partners to ensure curriculum provision remains responsive to learner needs, sector priorities and College strategic objectives.
- Undertake a significant but reduced teaching commitment appropriate to the leadership and management responsibilities of the role.
Qualifications - Essential:
- Educated to degree level or equivalent, or an appropriate vocational alternative.
- A recognised teaching qualification.
- Evidence of ongoing professional development.
- Membership of GTCS.

- Proven experience of leading and managing teams within a further education or similar learning environment.

- Strong track record in monitoring and improving operational performance, including use of data to enhance recruitment, retention, attainment and progression.

Class Contact – 9 hours per week
- Annual Leave – 60 days, up to 5 days can be taken flexibly, subject to operational exigencies of the service. Fixed days will be determined by the College calendar
