Responsible to: Head of Curriculum
We are The Complete Works (TCW) a registered charity and independent alternative provision school that delivers bespoke, nurturing education to young people across London who thrive outside of a mainstream setting. Covering Key Stages 1 through 5, we specialise in a bespoke approach to learning, blending academic studies with creative and vocational subjects. Education is delivered through a flexible combination of Learning Hubs, small group collaboration and one to one lessons taught in local communities or students' homes. With a diverse curriculum that enables students to sit for GCSEs, BTECs and other qualifications, we firmly place creativity, wellbeing support and tailored learning at the core of our mission, helping students rediscover their aspirations in a safe and supportive community.
Following our Outstanding Ofsted judgement in 2025, TCW is entering an exciting phase of development, strengthening and expanding our specialist provision across East and South London. This is a unique opportunity to join a supportive, innovative and bespoke education setting where our students sit at the heart of everything we do.
We are seeking a qualified Speech & Language Therapist to join our multidisciplinary team in a highly embedded school based role focused on improving communication, engagement and access to learning for children and young people with Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN).
This is not a clinic based role. You will work directly within the school environment, collaborating closely with teaching staff, SEN teams and pastoral colleagues to ensure communication needs are understood and addressed in real time across learning contexts. Your work will have a direct and visible impact on students’ ability to access education, build relationships and develop essential life skills. You will have the autonomy to innovate in your practice, the support of a collaborative team, and the opportunity to make measurable, meaningful impact every day.
This role is ideal for a therapist who is motivated by relational, school-based practice, enjoys variety in their working day and is confident working with learners who may have experienced trauma, disruption in education or barriers to engagement.
What you will be doing
- Delivering high-quality speech and language assessment using both formal and informal methods
- Designing and delivering targeted 1:1 and small group interventions linked to EHCP outcomes
- Embedding communication strategies into classroom practice and daily school routines
- Working closely with teachers to develop communication-friendly environments
- Supporting the development and review of EHCP targets and contributing to annual reviews
- Advising and training staff on effective communication strategies and interventions
- Supporting students with AAC and alternative communication approaches where required
- Building strong, trusting relationships with students, families and professionals
- Monitoring progress and evaluating the impact of interventions across settings
- Contributing to a trauma-informed, relational approach to learning and behaviour
About you
You will be a qualified Speech & Language Therapist, registered with HCPC and ideally a member of RCSLT, with experience supporting children and young people with SEND, including ASD and SEMH.
You will be confident working flexibly across settings, skilled in building relationships quickly and comfortable working as part of a wider school team rather than in isolation.
Experience in alternative provision, trauma-informed practice, AAC or outreach based therapy is highly desirable.
