Nursery Manager – New Nursery Opening in Alton - Help us create something special from the very beginning
This September, we are opening a brand-new nursery in Alton, and we are looking for the right person to lead it, shape it and grow with us.
We are an independent nursery group, not a corporate chain. Relationships matter to us. We believe children thrive when they feel safe, valued and inspired, and we believe the same is true for the adults who care for them.
Our new nursery will combine beautiful indoor spaces with a strong focus on outdoor learning, curiosity, exploration and child-led discovery. Forest school, fresh air, muddy boots, creativity, adventure and meaningful experiences will be part of everyday life.
This is a rare opportunity to help build a nursery from the ground up. You’ll have the chance to influence the culture, develop a passionate team and create an environment where children, families and staff genuinely love to be.
Who we’re looking for
We are looking for someone who is warm, positive, organised and passionate about early years education.
You may already be a Nursery Manager, or perhaps you’re currently a Deputy Manager, Senior Practitioner or Room Leader who is ready to take the next step. What matters most to us is your attitude, values and desire to create something exceptional.
We can support you to grow into the role. Experience can be developed; kindness, integrity and enthusiasm are much harder to teach.
Your role
As Nursery Manager, you will:
- Lead the day-to-day running of the nursery
- Create a safe, nurturing and inspiring environment for children
- Recruit, support and develop a happy, motivated team
- Build strong relationships with families and the local community
- Ensure high standards of care, education and safeguarding
- Maintain compliance with EYFS requirements and relevant legislation
- Support staff development through coaching, mentoring and training
- Help grow occupancy and establish the nursery’s reputation within Alton
- Work closely with the owners to shape the future of the nursery
What we’re looking for
- Relevant Early Years qualification (Level 3 or above)
- Experience within an early years setting
- Strong leadership potential and excellent communication skills
- Sound knowledge of EYFS, safeguarding and childcare regulations
- A genuine passion for supporting children’s learning and development
- The ability to inspire and bring out the best in others
- A positive, solution-focused approach
What you’ll get
- The opportunity to shape a brand-new nursery from the beginning
- A supportive and approachable ownership team
- Professional development and progression opportunities
- The chance to build and lead your own team
- A setting with a genuine focus on children, relationships and outdoor learning
- A workplace where your ideas, voice and contribution truly matter
A final note
We know that the best nursery leaders don’t always tick every box on a job description.
If you’re reading this and thinking, “I could do that, but I’ve never been a Nursery Manager before,” we’d still love to hear from you.
We’re looking for the right person, not just the perfect CV.
