6:00am – 2:30pm / 1:30pm – 10:00pm
Alternating every 2 weeks
We are currently recruiting on behalf of a well-established textile manufacturing business in Leeds, who are looking to appoint an experienced Weaving Shift Team Leader to join their Cloth Production team.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with weaving and leadership experience to play a key role in driving production performance, quality, and continuous improvement within a busy manufacturing environment.
The Role
Reporting to the Cloth Production Manager, you will lead and co-ordinate a weaving shift, ensuring production targets, quality standards, and safety expectations are consistently achieved.
You will manage a team with varying levels of experience, from highly skilled weavers through to trainees, providing strong leadership, coaching, and day-to-day operational support.
The role will involve balancing people management with production performance, identifying inefficiencies, reducing downtime, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the department.
Key ResponsibilitiesShift & Team Leadership
- Lead and manage a weaving shift, ensuring safety, quality, and production targets are achieved
- Provide coaching, guidance, and support to team members across varying skill levels
- Build a positive and consistent team culture through visible leadership and communication
- Identify training needs and support ongoing skills development
- Manage performance and conduct professionally and proactively
- Ensure clear communication and effective shift handovers
Production & Continuous Improvement
- Take ownership of shift production performance, including output, downtime, and quality
- Investigate and challenge causes of loom stoppages and inefficiencies
- Work closely with Production, Planning, and Data teams to review performance trends
- Support initiatives focused on improving efficiency, machine utilisation, and right-first-time production
- Identify opportunities to reduce waste and non-value-added activity
Technical & Quality Oversight
- Maintain strong knowledge of weaving processes, cloth construction, and loom operation
- Ensure job changes, tie-ons, and first-piece checks are completed to standard
- Support quality improvement initiatives and reduction of second-quality fabric
- Work alongside technical specialists to resolve production and quality issues
- Provide hands-on support where required
What We’re Looking ForEssential
- Previous experience within woven cloth production
- Experience leading or supervising teams within manufacturing or production environments
- Strong understanding of loom efficiency, downtime, and quality drivers
- Ability to challenge processes constructively and drive improvements
- Strong communication and leadership skills
Desirable
- Experience supporting trainees or apprentices
- Experience using production or performance data to support improvement initiatives
