Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Sous Chef to join our dynamic culinary team. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive kitchen experience, and a passion for delivering exceptional food quality. This role offers an exciting opportunity to oversee food preparation, manage kitchen operations, and support the head chef in maintaining high standards of service and safety within a busy hospitality environment.
Duties
- Assist the head chef in planning and developing menus that meet quality standards and customer preferences
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of kitchen staff, ensuring efficient workflow and adherence to recipes and presentation standards
- Oversee food production, ensuring all dishes are prepared to the highest standards of taste, presentation, and safety
- Manage food safety protocols, including hygiene standards and proper storage of ingredients
- Lead by example in cooking and food preparation, maintaining consistency across all dishes served
- Monitor stock levels, order supplies as needed, and minimise waste through effective inventory management
- Support team management by training new staff, providing ongoing coaching, and fostering a positive working environment
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations at all times during kitchen operations
- Collaborate with front-of-house staff to ensure seamless service delivery
Qualifications
- Proven supervisory experience within a professional kitchen environment
- Extensive culinary experience with strong skills in food preparation and cooking techniques
- Previous restaurant or hospitality experience is highly desirable
- Demonstrated ability to manage a team effectively and motivate staff towards shared goals
- Knowledge of food safety standards and best practices in hygiene management
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to multitask under pressure
- Strong leadership qualities coupled with excellent communication skills
- Experience in food production, serving, or related roles within a busy hospitality setting is advantageous
