Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Nursery Cook to prepare nutritious and appealing meals for children in our nursery. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food preparation, a strong understanding of food safety standards, and experience working in a kitchen environment. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to the wellbeing and development of young children through healthy meal provision.
Duties
- Prepare and cook meals suitable for children, ensuring nutritional value and variety
- Follow approved recipes and meal plans, adapting as necessary for dietary restrictions or preferences
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area in accordance with food safety regulations
- Ensure all food is stored correctly, labelled, and rotated to prevent waste
- Serve meals to children in a friendly and hygienic manner, promoting positive mealtime experiences
- Adhere to health and safety guidelines at all times during food preparation and service
- Support in cleaning kitchen equipment and utensils after use
Skills
- Proven experience in food preparation, cooking, or culinary roles within a childcare or restaurant setting
- Strong knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene practices
- Ability to prepare balanced, nutritious meals suitable for young children
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently
- Good communication skills to collaborate effectively with nursery staff and caregivers
- Experience in meal planning and serving in a fast-paced environment is desirable
- A caring attitude with a focus on creating a positive mealtime atmosphere for children
Pay: £13.00-£14.00 per hour
