About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Senior Care Assistant to join our dedicated night team at The Old Vicarage Care Home, a 36-bed residential dementia-focused home in North Shields.
This is a permanent, full-time night position working 12-hour shifts on a rolling rota — 3 nights one week, 4 nights the next (36–48 hours per week).
You will take the lead overnight, ensuring residents are safe, comfortable, and well cared for throughout the night.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support the night care team on shift
- Provide person-centred care and emotional support to residents overnight
- Administer and accurately record medication
- Respond promptly to call bells, emergencies, and overnight needs
- Maintain and update care records using our electronic system
- Complete a thorough handover at the end of each shift
What We Are Looking For
- NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care (or actively working towards it)
- Minimum 2 years' experience in a care setting, including night shifts
- Experience with or confidence in medication administration (refresher training provided)
- Calm, reliable, and compassionate — especially in overnight and emergency situations
- Good written communication for care records and handovers
