Requirements of Senior Care Assistant
Preference would be given to candidates who already have an NVQ 3 in Health & Social Care although training would be provided to the right candidates.
Must have at 2 years’ experience in a care setting whether this is in a care home or providing care in the community or private care.
Responsibilities of Senior Care Assistant
To support resident with providing personal care needs including bathing/showering and toileting in line with policies and procedures.
To support residents with administering medications if trained and to complete all paper work in line with policies and procedures.
To support other seniors with ordering monthly medications, returns and updating medications when required
To complete medication audits on a monthly basis
To carry out regular checks with our residents and to ensure that documentation of these checks is completed.
To monitor weights and record these on a monthly basis.
To liaise with family members when required either face to face or over the telephone.
To support residents with eating and drinking where required to ensure their nutritional intake and to record their intake where applicable.
To carry out audits as specified by the home manager
Updating Care plans
Liaise with Outside Health professionals such as GP, District nurses, consultants etc as well as social workers and families as required
To complete DOLS assessments with the support of the home manager
