Playdays Nursery Farnborough seeks a full time 3rd in charge from March 2027, and maternity cover deputy manager until March 2027, who is self-motivated with the ability to recognise, promote and embed high quality practice across all aspects of the early year’s provision. A bonus will be given for the maternity cover position
If you have experience working as a deputy manager or supervisor and looking to step up into a management position, this could be a great opportunity for you. From March 2027, the position will be our nursery 3rd in charge.
The deputy manager will support the manager in providing professional leadership and management of the nursery and its staff, deliver high quality standards of care and education for all children, identify areas for development and implement new ideas and practice. You will be required to support with the overall day to day management of the nursery.
The successful candidate should have strong knowledge of the EYFS, strong communication, organisational and interpersonal skills. The individual must be highly motivated, have a positive attitude towards working with children, and be ready to lead and manage team of staff.
Deputy Manager Duties:
- Delivering outstanding care and education in line with the EYFS
- Guiding team members on effective parent communication and parental partnerships
- Ensuring all aspects of the nursery operation is compliant with Ofsted and DfE
- Ensuring that each child’s well-being is met and that they thrive in a safe environment
- Safeguarding all children
Nursery Manager requirements:
- Level 3 qualification or equivalent
- A charismatic Early Years Practitioner with sound knowledge of all aspects of child development.
- Strong leadership skills with a proven record of leadership experience
- Excellent knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage
- Strong people skills with the ability to listen, support and guide colleagues
- A passion for working with children aged between 6 months and 5 years
- A positive and friendly demeanour
- Experience in leading a nursery through an Ofsted inspection and liaising with parents, families and external agencies.
- Strong commercial skills with experience of marketing the services of a nursery and driving up occupancy numbers.
- Nursery administration skills, computer skills and excellent organisational skills

- The nursery is open Monday to Friday from 7.30 am to 6.30 pm - 51 weeks per year. Rotating shift pattern within opening hours.
