Responsible to: Day Care Co-ordinator / Care Manager
Hours: 25 hours per week.
1. Job Purpose
To provide safe and reliable transport while supporting service users to travel confidently, remain independent, and engage socially.
The role focuses on enabling individuals, ensuring journeys are not just transport but also positive, social, and worthwhile experiences.
2. Duties & Responsibilities
A. Empowering Support
- Support service users in a way that encourages independence and confidence.
- Assist only when needed, promoting self-reliance where possible.
- Build respectful and positive relationships.
B. Meaningful Engagement
- Encourage conversation and social interaction during journeys.
- Create a welcoming and inclusive environment.
- Support service users to feel comfortable, confident, and involved.
C. Transport Duties
- Safely transport service users to and from services.
- Assist with boarding and exiting vehicles safely.
- Use equipment appropriately and safely.
- Conduct daily vehicle checks and maintain cleanliness.
D. Safety & Communication
- Report concerns, incidents, or changes in wellbeing.
- Communicate effectively with staff, service users, and carers.
- Follow safeguarding and health & safety procedures.
3. Special Conditions
- Flexible working required (including weekends and Bank Holidays).
- Enhanced DBS check required.
