SEN Tutor & Mentor (Face-to-Face) – Hampshire
Job Summary
Thrive Children Services is expanding its network of face-to-face SEN tutors and mentors across Hampshire to support increasing demand for specialist one-to-one provision.
We support children and young people who are unable to access mainstream education due to SEND, SEMH, EBSA (Emotionally Based School Avoidance), medical needs, exclusion, or other barriers to learning.
This is a flexible, self-employed role focused on delivering high-quality one-to-one support in homes, schools, and community settings.
Key Details
- Face-to-face delivery (homes, schools, community settings)
- Typically daytime hours (9am–3pm), with some sessions running later (up to 5pm)
- Flexible workload based on your availability
- £30–£35 per hour
- Mileage contribution available
- QTS Tutors typically start at £30 per hour, with progression to £35 per hour based on performance, reliability and consistency
- Opportunities available across Hampshire
Duties
- Deliver tailored one-to-one tutoring and mentoring sessions
- Support students with SEND, SEMH and EBSA needs
- Build consistent, trusting relationships with learners
- Adapt sessions based on engagement levels and individual learning needs
- Monitor progress and provide feedback where required
- Work collaboratively with families, schools, local authorities and other professionals
- Promote confidence, engagement and positive outcomes for young people
Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Experienced tutors, mentors and specialist practitioners with relevant SEN experience will also be considered
- Experience working with children and young people with additional needs
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Ability to work independently in a face-to-face setting
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain)
- Ability to travel locally
