Job Overview
UK Health Services is looking for compassionate, reliable and dedicated Care Workers to support people in their own homes. This role involves providing safe, respectful and person-centred care that helps each person maintain their independence, dignity and wellbeing.
You will support service users with day-to-day care needs, including personal care, medication support, meal preparation, companionship, mobility support and domestic tasks. You will be expected to follow each person’s care plan, record care accurately, and report any concerns or changes in health or wellbeing to the senior team.
This role is suitable for experienced care workers and applicants who are new to care but have the right values, attitude and willingness to learn. Full training and support will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Support service users with personal care, including washing, dressing, oral care, continence support and toileting.
- Assist with mobility, transfers and safe moving and handling in line with care plans and training.
- Prompt or support with medication in line with company policy and the person’s medication record.
- Prepare meals, drinks and snacks based on the person’s preferences, dietary needs and care plan.
- Provide companionship and emotional support, promoting dignity, choice and independence.
- Support people with dementia, physical disabilities, mental health needs, learning disabilities or other care needs where required.
- Carry out light domestic duties such as tidying, laundry, washing dishes and maintaining a safe environment.
- Monitor and report any changes in a person’s health, wellbeing, behaviour, skin condition, mobility or general presentation.
- Complete accurate care notes and records after each visit using the company’s care recording system.
- Follow safeguarding, infection control, health and safety, confidentiality and lone working procedures.
- Attend training, supervision and team meetings as required.
- Work respectfully with service users, families, colleagues and health and social care professionals.
Skills and Qualities Required
- A caring, patient and respectful approach.
- Good communication skills and the ability to listen.
- Reliable, punctual and able to follow instructions.
- Able to work safely and professionally in people’s homes.
- Willingness to complete training and follow company policies and procedures.
- Ability to maintain clear and accurate records.
- Previous care experience is desirable but not essential.
- A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle is desirable and may be required depending on the care package.
- Flexibility to work shifts, including mornings, evenings, weekends and bank holidays where required.
Requirements
- Right to work in the UK.
- Enhanced DBS check, or willingness to complete one.
- Willingness to complete mandatory care training.
- Ability to work as part of a team and independently.
- Commitment to delivering safe, person-centred and dignified care.
