Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Kitchen Porter/Assistant to support our busy culinary team. This role involves assisting with food preparation, maintaining cleanliness in the kitchen, and supporting the overall smooth operation of our restaurant or hotel kitchen. The ideal candidate will have a passion for hospitality and a keen eye for organisation, ensuring a hygienic and efficient working environment. Previous experience in food service, restaurant, or hotel settings is advantageous but not essential, as training will be provided.
Responsibilities
- Assist with basic food preparation tasks to support chefs and kitchen staff
- Maintain cleanliness of all kitchen areas, including washing dishes, utensils, and cookware
- Support with the organisation and storage of ingredients and supplies
- Help with setting up workstations and clearing down after service periods
- Ensure health and safety standards are adhered to at all times
- Support serving staff during busy periods as needed
- Assist in maintaining stock levels and notifying management of shortages or issues
Requirements
- Prior experience in food preparation, cooking, or hospitality is preferred but not mandatory
- Knowledge of kitchen safety and hygiene standards is advantageous
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail
- Willingness to learn new skills and support team members
- Previous experience in restaurants, hotels, or culinary environments is desirable but not essential
- A positive attitude and strong work ethic are essential for success in this role
Pay: £12.50-£15.00 per hour
