Buyer - Burscough - Permanent - £34k-£39k per annum
Forrest Recruitment are seeking an experienced Buyer to join our professional client in Burscough who are specialist in their field. The company are a well established employer and are highly regarded in their industry. This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing, multi-million pound turnover business who see their employees as their biggest asset! This role is based at the Head Office and involves supporting the Procurement Manager and a Junior Buyer with purchasing and supply chain activities for multiple sites of the organisation.
Duties will include:
- Managing a supplier list of circa 700 approved suppliers
- Sourcing and purchasing materials, plant hire and services essential to construction projects
- Using the bespoke system for raising purchase orders and supplier invoicing
- Negotiating prices with suppliers and completing price reduction exercises
- Meeting with suppliers on/offsite and on Teams to negotiate terms and review performance
- Producing group and internal reporting on spend, material usage and waste to support cost control and sustainability objectives
- Assisting with the tendering and PQQ (Pre-Qualification Questionnaire) processes
- Monitoring market conditions, analysing trends and researching potential suppliers, materials and products
- Supporting the achievement of group environmental and sustainability targets
- Assisting with the integration of new systems and the development of efficient procurement workflows
- Ensuring compliance with company procedures, processes and governance frameworks to maintain quality and audit standards
- Working collaboratively with internal departments to resolve procurement and supply chain queries
- Managing supplier onboarding processes and ensure ongoing supplier compliance
- Ensuring the company’s core values are embedded in all decision-making and professional conduct
Working hours:
- Monday to Friday - 38.5 hours (3pm finish on Friday)

The successful candidate will have a proven Purchasing/Supply Chain background and be able to demonstrate strong negotiation, analytical and communications skills. Previous experience of working within a construction/engineering environment would be an advantage, along with a CIPS qualification (or willingness to undertake)
