Overview
We are seeking a Health & Safety Manager to lead our organisation’s health and safety initiatives & BSI systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive safety programmes to ensure a secure working environment for all employees. This role offers an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful impact on workplace safety standards and organisational compliance. The ideal applicant will possess strong leadership skills, a proactive approach, and relevant qualifications in health and safety management.
Experience in managing BSI quality and environmental systems and BSI audits.
Please note you are the department as a one man/woman so will be expected to be hands on, writing risk assessments, delivering tool box talks and managing the day to day paperwork of all Health & Safety quality/Environmental matters across our 3 mining sites, Bromsgrove, Wrexham & Bridgnorth.

Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and monitor health and safety policies in accordance with legal requirements and industry best practices.
- Conduct regular risk assessments and hazard analyses to identify potential safety issues across all departments.
- Lead investigations into accidents or incidents, performing root cause analysis to prevent recurrence.
- Prepare detailed report writing on safety performance, incidents, and improvement measures for management review.
- Coordinate training programmes for staff on health and safety procedures, including first aid training where necessary.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety legislation and standards.
- Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, incident reports, and corrective actions taken.
- Act as the primary point of contact for external safety audits and inspections.
- Promote a culture of safety awareness throughout the organisation through communication campaigns and engagement activities.
Skills
- Proven experience in health and safety management within a similar organisational setting.
- Strong knowledge of current health and safety legislation and regulations applicable in the UK.
- First aid certification is essential; additional qualifications in occupational health are desirable.
- Excellent report writing skills with the ability to produce clear, concise documentation for diverse audiences.
- Proficiency in root cause analysis techniques to identify underlying issues behind incidents or hazards.
- Effective organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks efficiently under pressure.
- Strong communication skills to engage effectively with staff at all levels of the organisation.
- Leadership qualities with the ability to influence positive behavioural change regarding workplace safety. The Successful applicant will be involved in assisting the current quarry management teams & IT function at quarries in Bromsgrove, Bridgnorth & Wrexham so must be based in the UK as Job requires you to be on site.
Hours 7.30am till 5pm Monday to Friday
