Role overview
Introduction to the role:
This is an exciting opportunity to join the leading marine defendant personal injury, travel and regulatory team within the wider Marine Business Group in our London office.
In this role you will have the opportunity to work with a wide cross section of clients in the sector ranging from ship and yacht owners, operators and insurers, ports, hotel owners and insurers and cruise lines, dealing with a range of matters including personal injury claims, EL/PL land-based claims, travel claims, and industrial disease claims.
Introduction to the team:
You will be joining the PI, Travel & Regulatory team – Marine Business Group, headed up by John Caddies, who have a long track record of successfully advising clients on the legal aftermath of major and minor air, land and sea incidents including criminal and regulatory incidents and defending personal injury claims in a cost-effective and pro-active manner.
Key responsibilities:

Personal injury claims bought by ship’s crew and passengers. This includes defending claims for catastrophic injury, fatal injuries and jurisdictional advice.

EL and PL land based personal injury claims, particularly in the ports sector.

Travel claims brought against cruise ships, yachts and to a lesser extent hotels and airlines.

Industrial disease claims.

Work related death investigations and prosecutions by police, MCA, HSE and MAIB

Drafting agreements.
What are we looking for:

Qualified Solicitor (NQ – 2 years PQE)
-
Law degree (or equivalent)
-
Personal injury and/or industrial disease claim experience.

Ability to handle your own claims.
-
Ability/willingness to work as part of a team and independently.
-
An interest and aptitude for developing new business.
-
Attention to detail and an ability to multi-task.
-
Strong organisation, intrapersonal and communication skills.
-
Pragmatic approach to legal and commercial problem solving.

Demonstrable ability to meet deadlines and adhere to guidelines and procedures (client and internal).

Ability to demonstrate the firm’s core values.
