PMLD Teaching Assistant – Secondary SEND School
Location: Bradford
Start Date: ASAP
- Hours: Monday to Friday, 10:00am – 2:00pm
Contract: Long-term role with potential to become permanent
Milk Education are recruiting a compassionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant to support pupils within the PMLD (Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties) cohort of a specialist Secondary SEND school in Bradford.
This rewarding role involves supporting young people with complex learning difficulties, physical disabilities, medical needs, and communication difficulties. You will work closely with teachers, therapists, and support staff to help pupils access learning and develop independence in a safe, nurturing environment.
- Support students with PMLD on a 1:1 and small group basis
- Assist with personal care, feeding, toileting, and moving & handling where required
- Support communication through visual aids, PECS, Makaton, and sensory-based approaches
- Help pupils access tailored learning activities and therapeutic interventions
- Promote engagement, independence, and wellbeing throughout the school day
- Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and healthcare professionals
- Support sensory regulation and ensure pupils' physical and emotional needs are met
✅ Experience supporting children or young people with SEND, PMLD, SLD, or complex needs is desirable
✅ Comfortable supporting personal care and intimate care needs
✅ Patient, caring, and empathetic approach
✅ Ability to remain calm and positive in challenging situations
✅ Strong communication and teamwork skills
✅ A genuine passion for supporting young people with additional needs
✅ Experience within education, care, support work, healthcare, or residential settings is welcomed
