Kitchen Assistant
We are looking for an enthusiastic and reliable Kitchen Assistant to join our busy kitchen team.
This is a hands-on role focused primarily on supporting our chefs with food preparation. We're looking for someone with previous prep experience who is passionate about food and has the ambition to develop their skills and progress into a chef role over time.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist chefs with daily food preparation and mise en place.
- Prepare vegetables, salads, sauces, garnishes and other ingredients to specification.
- Portion, label and store ingredients correctly.
- Support chefs with basic cooking tasks as required.
- Receive deliveries and store stock following food safety procedures.
- Rotate stock and monitor freshness of ingredients.
- Maintain a clean, organised and hygienic kitchen and food preparation area.
- Wash kitchen equipment, utensils and dishes as required.
- Assist with general cleaning duties and ensure the kitchen meets all hygiene and health & safety standards.
- Work closely with the kitchen team during busy service periods.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a kitchen preparation role is essential.
- Good knife skills and confidence preparing fresh ingredients.
- Understanding of food hygiene and safe food handling.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Positive attitude, reliability and strong teamwork skills.
- A genuine passion for cooking and a desire to learn from experienced chefs with the ambition to progress into a chef role.
