We’re on the hunt for a Van Driver to drive our LWB van full time. This is one of the most important roles within our business; and we're looking for someone with commitment, drive and ambition that isn't looking for a normal 9-5.
The role will include delivering parcels in our dedicated vehicles to Amazon Fulfilment Centres across the UK, whilst supporting with loading, unloading and ensuring delivery manifests are signed and accurate. This is a very labour intensive role, and you could be lifting up to 500+ boxes per day on and off the vehicle.
The role is based at our Craner & Kirkman unit on Solomon Road in Ilkeston, replacing a driver that has given years of service. Working hours vary, but you should at the minimum expect to be working 9-5 Monday to Friday, and be keen and willing to do overtime. On average you will be doing 2-4 drops a day at Amazon FC's around the country, returning to base throughout the day to collect more parcels.
The pay for this role is £13 per hour, with an incentive of an additional £10 per day for any days that you complete four or more drops into Amazon FC's. This is clearly at management discretion, and the work has to be available to do those additional drops.
Responsibilities:
- Driving our LWB transit van
- Loading and unloading parcels
- Ensuring accurate delivery manifests are signed and stamped
- Reporting on delays and timings with deliveries
- Ensuring the vehicles remain clean and tidy at all times
- Fuelling the vehicle with a company fuel card
You are required to do a walk around check at the start of each day, and provide management with regular updates on the maintenance and repairs needed on the vehicle.
You should have a clean driving licence (no more than 3 points) with van driving experience. As we look to grow our business, we may be moving away from vans into HGV operations over the next 12 months. Whilst not necessary to be able to apply, it would be advantageous if you hold a Class 1 or Class 2 driving licence, with up to date CPC. If and when moving from van operations to HGV, we would, of course, review pay rates to be in line with the experience and knowledge required that comes with driving larger vehicles.
