Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Kitchen Porter/Kitchen Assistant to support our busy culinary team. This role involves assisting with food preparation, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring the smooth operation of the kitchen environment. The ideal candidate will have a passion for hospitality and a keen eye for detail, contributing to a welcoming and efficient service. Previous experience in a restaurant, hotel, or culinary setting is advantageous but not essential, as training will be provided.
Responsibilities
- Assist with basic food preparation tasks under supervision to support chefs and kitchen staff
- Ensure all kitchen areas are kept clean, organised, and hygienic in accordance with health and safety standards
- Wash, peel, chop, and prepare ingredients as required for daily service
- Support with the cleaning of pots, pans, utensils, and kitchen equipment
- Help with the organisation of stock and delivery of supplies to ensure smooth kitchen operations
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness in all work areas, including dining spaces when required
- Support serving staff during busy periods to ensure efficient customer service
Requirements
- Previous experience in food preparation or hospitality is desirable but not essential; enthusiasm to learn is more important
- Knowledge of basic cooking techniques and kitchen hygiene standards is advantageous
- Experience working in a restaurant, hotel, or culinary environment is preferred
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Good organisational skills and a proactive attitude towards cleanliness and safety
- Flexibility to work shifts as required within operational hours
