Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Early Years Deputy Manager to join our childcare team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting the management of our nursery, ensuring the delivery of high-quality early childhood education and care. Responsibilities
- Support the Nursery Manager in the day-to-day operation of the setting, ensuring smooth and efficient running
- Assist in planning and implementing engaging educational programmes tailored to children's developmental needs
- Supervise and support staff team members, promoting a positive team environment centred on professional development
- Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations, safeguarding policies, and statutory requirements
- Foster strong relationships with children, parents, and external agencies to promote effective communication and partnership working
- Lead by example in delivering high standards of childcare and early years education
- Contribute to staff appraisals, training sessions, and ongoing professional development activities
- Oversee daily routines including meal times, outdoor play, and rest periods to ensure children's well-being
Skills
- Proven management and leadership experience within a childcare or nursery setting
- Strong understanding of early childhood education principles and child development stages
- Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written
- Ability to work effectively with children, demonstrating patience, creativity, and enthusiasm
- Knowledge of childcare legislation, safeguarding procedures, and health & safety standards
- Organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently
- Driving licence is desirable for travel between settings or community engagement activities
