Painter (Building Maintenance)Main Purpose
An opportunity for an experienced Painter & Decorator to carry out planned and reactive maintenance work across a range of properties. The role involves working independently and as part of a maintenance team to deliver high-quality painting and decorating services while ensuring compliance with health and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities
- Carry out all aspects of painting and decorating work.
- Prepare internal and external surfaces for painting and decorating.
- Apply undercoats, gloss, emulsion, varnishes, stains, and specialist finishes.
- Hang wallpaper and wall coverings.
- Erect and dismantle access equipment and scaffolding safely.
- Carry out repairs to surfaces including treatment of cracks, blistering, flaking, and other defects.
- Undertake planned and reactive maintenance work.
- Work from specifications, schedules, and drawings where required.
- Identify, order, and collect materials.
- Complete job sheets and associated paperwork accurately.
- Drive company vehicles when required.
- Support and assist with training new staff and apprentices.
- Ensure all work complies with health & safety legislation and company procedures.
Essential Requirements
Applicants must have:
- NVQ Level 2 in Painting & Decorating (or equivalent qualification).
- Full current driving licence.
- At least 1 year's experience in:
- Surface preparation prior to painting and decorating.
- Erecting and dismantling access equipment/scaffolding safely.
- Painting and decorating within a building maintenance environment.

Desirable
- NVQ Level 3 in Painting & Decorating.
- Two or more years' experience across all essential criteria.
- Experience working within social housing, property maintenance, facilities management, or public sector environments.
Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will be a qualified Painter & Decorator with maintenance experience, strong health & safety awareness, and the ability to deliver high-quality work across a variety of occupied and non-occupied properties. They will be customer-focused, reliable, and capable of working both independently and within a team environment.
Pay: £15.82 per hour
