About the role
Social Bite are a charity and social enterprise business providing homes, jobs, food, and support to empower people to transform their own lives. Our network of coffee shops provides free food to over 150 people from the homeless community in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen every day. We work to end people’s isolation and exclusion by helping them overcome barriers.
We are looking for someone special to join our team as a Supervisor for our newly refurbished Edinburgh coffee shop
Not only will you bring a real enthusiasm for great customer service, but you will also have experience in supervising a small coffee shop and a desire to join our collaborative movement to end homelessness.
You will be one of a small network of stores who support each other.
This is an exciting opportunity to make a real impact - not just through providing outstanding customer service, but also by embodying our values, promoting our brand, and fostering a culture of excellence among your team. You will come with experience in supervising a small coffee / dessert shop or catering operation with a desire to join our collaborative movement to end homelessness.
In this role, you’ll have autonomy over the day-to-day running of the unit, with the responsibility that comes with it. You’ll lead by example, inspiring your team to deliver a first-class experience for every customer while encouraging them to promote our brand and upsell, where possible. You’ll also be part of a small network of stores that collaborate and support each other.
We need you to be:
- Customer-focused with an eye for detail, ensuring every customer interaction is exceptional
- Good with numbers, confidently managing stock control, financial reporting, and compliance checks like food temperatures
- An inspiring leader with creative ideas and keen to pass on your knowledge to help develop your team
- A people person who loves seeing your team grow
- Passionate and driven, with a clear focus on ensuring the unit thrives and succeeds
- A great communicator who collaborates effectively with both your team, colleagues and other stakeholders.
We’d like you to have the following experience:
- As a Barista of a small coffee shop
- Proven supervisory experience
- Running shifts in the absence of Managers
- Experience in desserts, or other small food environments
- Health and safety within a food environment, ensuring compliance with best practices and regulations
- Food-related retail controls, such as managing stock, costs, staff scheduling, and banking procedures.
Why join us?
This is more than just a job - it’s an opportunity to be part of something bigger. You’ll not only have the chance to supervise a successful retail operation but also play a key role in upholding our values and creating an environment where your team and unit can truly excel.
We are keen to recruit as soon as possible, so all applications will be considered as they are received and interviews scheduled on a rolling basis, therefore early applications for this role are encouraged.
