About the Role:
We are on the hunt for an experienced, passionate, and driven Head Chef to lead the kitchen team and help take Deadwood Smokehouse to the next level. You’ll be responsible for delivering exceptional food quality, maintaining high standards of hygiene, developing your team, and bringing fresh ideas to our menus.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the day-to-day running of the kitchen with passion and precision
- Prepare and present Deadwood’s signature smoked meats and BBQ dishes to the highest standard
- Oversee all food preparation, cooking, and plating while ensuring compliance with health & safety and food hygiene regulations
- Manage kitchen rota, staffing levels, and labour costs effectively
- Monitor and control food cost, wastage, and portion control
- Train, mentor, and inspire your team to deliver top performance and maintain morale
- Collaborate with management on menu development, specials, and seasonal offerings
- Ensure stock ordering, rotation, and supplier relationships are managed efficiently
- Maintain excellent kitchen cleanliness and organisation at all times
What We’re Looking For:
- Ideally 3 years’ experience as a Head Chef or Senior Sous Chef
- Strong leadership skills and a passion for mentoring junior chefs
- Solid knowledge of smokehouse, BBQ, or grill-led cooking styles
- Confidence in managing food costs, stock, and kitchen budgets
- A creative mind with an eye for consistency and presentation
- A calm, problem-solving approach under pressure
- Food Safety Level 3 (preferred)
- A team-first mindset and positive attitude
