Are you an experienced Information Governance Lawyer looking for a new challenge within a supportive and forward-thinking Local Authority? West Berkshire Council is seeking a Lawyer experienced in Information Governance to join our Legal and Democratic Service. Reporting to the Principal Lawyer - Contracts, Procurement & Information Governance you will play a key role in providing high-quality legal advice and support, with a focus on information governance.
The Role
As part of our dedicated team, you will provide expert legal advice and support on information governance matters, including:

Advising on data protection issues and compliance
- Reviewing and drafting DPIAs, privacy notices, data sharing agreements and other data protection documents
- Working collaboratively with the Data Protection Officer and deputising as and when required
- Developing appropriate information governance policies and procedures alongside providing training and awareness sessions for Council officers and Members.
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and attributes:

Relevant legal qualification and experience in providing advice on information governance, data protection, and freedom of information
- Sound knowledge of relevant legislation in relation to information governance
- Strong analytical and research skills, with the ability to interpret complex legal information
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships
- Ability to work independently, manage a diverse caseload and prioritise effectively
- Team player with a positive and collaborative approach.
