An exciting opportunity has arisen to to join our established
Preschool as our Deputy Manager.
The successful applicant will have excellent knowledge and experience of working with children aged 2-4 year olds. They will be able to support and challenge the practitioners when deputising for the Preschool Manager.
The ideal candidate will be passionate about delivering the highest level of care and quality of teaching to children and have a good understanding of the EYFS and children's development. They will be able to lead and guide a team of practitioners ensuring policies and procedures are adhered to at all times, safeguarding children and their wellbeing and ensuring the smooth running of the setting alongside the manager.
They must be qualified to at least level 3 in childcare and have a minimum of two years childcare experience, ideally some at room leader or equivalent level.
Reports to: Nursery Manager and Committee
Main responsibilities:
- To deliver and ensure a high standard of learning, development and care for children aged 2-4 years.
- To manage the day to day activities in the setting alongside the manager
- To ensure that the setting is a safe environment for children, staff and parents/carers and other visitors.
- To develop partnerships with parents/carers to increase involvement in their child's development.
- To be responsible for any tasks delegated by the Nursery Manager
- To support the setting SENCO
- To ensure that the preschool provides a safe, caring, stimulating and educational environment, both indoors and outdoors, at all times
- To ensure that the preschool plans an appropriate play based Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum that enables children to make individual progress
- To ensure the preschool meets Ofsted requirements at all times.
- To manage, supervise and support the preschool staff as delegated
- To work with other professionals in the local area for the benefit of children and families
- To ensure all staff understand and work to the preschool policies and procedures, including how to deal with child protection issues appropriately and how to respond to incidents, accidents, complaints and emergencies
- To participate in the key person system
- To ensure all records are properly maintained in accordance with the policies and procedures of the setting and statutory requirements
- To liaise closely with parents/carers, informing them about the preschool and its curriculum, exchanging information about children's progress and encouraging parents' involvement.

Education & Qualifications - Essential Criteria
- Level 3 qualification in Children and Young Peoples Workforce or equivalent.
Education & Qualifications - Desirable Criteria
- Paediatric First Aid
- Designated Safeguarding lead
- Food Hygiene Certificate
Experience/Knowledge - Essential Criteria
- A minimum of 2 years recent experience working in a Preschool /Nursery setting, ideally already in a senior practitioner or room leader role.
- Excellent working knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage and current Ofsted statutory guidance.
- Knowledge and proven practical experience of implementing good quality learning opportunities.
Experience/Knowledge - Desirable Criteria
- Ability to co-ordinate in a specific specialist area e.g. SENCO.

Job Types: Part-time, Permanent
Pay: £14.57 per hour
