Team Leader (Medication Lead)

Job Purpose
The Team Leader (Medication Lead) is responsible for leading and supporting care staff in the safe administration and management of medications within the domiciliary care service. The role combines leadership responsibilities with specialist oversight of medication practices, ensuring compliance with company policies, CQC regulations, and best practice standards while promoting high-quality, person-centred care.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership and Team Support
- Act as a role model, promoting high standards of care and professionalism.
- Conduct spot checks and observations.
- Assist management in addressing performance concerns and identifying training needs.
- Participate in on-call care duties where required.
Medication Leadership
- Act as the service's medication champion and lead for medication-related matters.
- Ensure medications are administered safely and in accordance with prescribed instructions.
- Monitor and review Medication Administration Records (MAR charts) for accuracy and completion.
- Conduct regular medication audits and implement improvement plans where necessary.
- Investigate medication errors, omissions, and incidents, reporting findings to management.
- Liaise with pharmacies, GPs, community nurses, and other healthcare professionals regarding medication changes and concerns.
- Ensure medication policies and procedures are followed by all staff.
Quality and Compliance
- Ensure compliance with CQC regulations, safeguarding requirements, and company policies.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation relating to medication and care delivery.
- Monitor care records and report concerns to management promptly.
Service User Support
- Deliver high-quality, person-centred care when required.
- Ensure service users receive support with medication in line with their care plans and risk assessments.
- Report changes in service users' health, wellbeing, or medication needs.
- Promote independence, dignity, choice, and respect at all times.
Person Specification
Essential
- Previous experience in domiciliary care or a similar health and social care setting.
- Extensive experience administering and managing medication.
- Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care (or equivalent).
- Strong knowledge of medication policies, procedures, and best practice.
- Good understanding of CQC standards and safeguarding requirements.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
Desirable
- Previous Team Leader, Senior Carer, or Supervisor experience.

Pay: £13.50 per hour
