About the role
The role will require specialist psychiatric assessment, diagnosis and medical management of children, young people and adults with suspected ADHD. Adherence to NICE Guidelines is essential. Robust clinical governance and a neurodiversity affirming approach that recognises individual strengths, needs and lived experience is essential.
Key responsibilities
- Undertake comprehensive ADHD assessments using validated tools and structured clinical interviews
- Formulate differential diagnoses and identify coexisting mental health or neurodevelopment conditions
- Provide clear, accessible diagnostic outcomes and evidence based treatment plans
- Initiate, titrate and monitor ADHD medication safely, ensuring compliance with physical health monitoring
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation and contribute to audit, governance and service improvement
- Promote neurodiversity affirming practice across the service and provide specialist advice to colleagues
Essential Qualifications and experience
GMC registration with licence to practice
CCT in child and adolescent phychiatry, or dual training
Experience in ADHD assessment and pharmacological management across all age groups
Strong understanding of neurodevelopment conditions and associated comorbidities
Excellent communication, risk assessment and clinical decision making skills
Desirable
- Experience with ADHD pathways
- Training in recognised diagnostic tools (e.g. DIVA5, ACE, QBCheck)
